The most basic pitch in baseball is the 4 seam fastball. This pitch is the most used pitch in baseball.(Everyone can throw one.) This pitch is held by index finger, middle finger, and thumb. Placing the index and middle fingers on top of the ball and across both of the top seams and thumb on the bottom of the ball. To throw this pitch, it is important to throw through the catchers mitt and using the entire body to throw the pitch. The pitch is a straight pitch and there is no deception, it is just the pitcher challenging the batter to hit the heater that he cooked up to throw by him.
