2015年，普雷斯頓因在提名文件上使用他父母的米德爾斯堡地址而不是他實際的住所而受到批評，但他否認違反了選舉規則。 [21]

2023年8月，經過克利夫蘭警方的調查，普雷斯頓被指控犯有四項在行政會議上未披露金錢利益的罪名，違反了2011年《地方主義法》的S30(4)和34(1)(b)和(3)，開庭日期定為2023年8月21日[22]。
